Friday Thought: Black & White Photos

So what is it that makes black and white photos special?

Is it the high contrast that seems to be acceptable only in black and white?
Is it that it offers less distraction that colored photos can suffer from?
Is it that black and white adds an emotional depth and elegance to the scene?
Is it that it can make any photo look classic and timeless?

I think it might be a combination of all of the above. But personally, black and white to me, always seem to bring a photo to a higher realm of emotion that the viewer can feel instantly. Good black and white photos can be magical, subtle and convey a myriad of meanings at the first glance.

So what do YOU like about black and white photos?

  1. I couldn't agree more with what you wrote. To me, black/ white photos educate us on observing the world more graphically, specifically shapes and textures inside the frame.

I still pray till this day, that one night I can dream in black and white :)

Keep up the great work, i am a big fan of it.
